چکیده

Gypseous soil, as is well known, includes a specific quantity of gypsum. Gypsum water-soluble salt with solubility (2.2-2.6) gram/liter in distilled - water. As result, the presence gypsum poses challenge when building structures on this since dissolves exposed to water, producing gaps between soil particles and so causing collapse. This study examines behavior shallow foundation rested gypseous soil. Three types contents (61%, 45.3%, 27.9%, respectively) are used, treated ceramic wastes, which waste product construction. The Soil samples were collected from site Tikrit University's campus. consists six test cases, two for each type one dry other wet, where first case was used baseline comparison, without addition rest added three proportions (3%, 6%, 9%) mixing depths ratio (B/2, B, 3B/2).The percentage 9% wastes gives best results improving, bearing capacity improved by 233%, 256 %, 289% high 78%, 94%, 111% medium 60%, 87%, 113% low soils. Adding wet improves strength lowers settlement some extent, reduces influence water it.

Intrusion of Geomesh in Gypseous Soil Under Single Footing

Methods to improve bearing capacity of footing resting of collapsing soil can, in fact, take two approaches, improving soil strength properties and intrusion of reinforcing sorces into soil. The footing is modeled by a square steel plate 0.1 by 0.1 m. The footing is loaded as to have a stress of 40 kPa and settlement is receded in dry and in soaking conditions. Two depths of the geo-mesh reinfo...

Production and Crystallization Behavior of an Iron Rich Glass–Ceramic Prepared by Ironmaking and Steelmaking Wastes

Using wastes as starting raw materials is a common method to reduce the production costs and the environmental pollution problems arising from such wastes. In this study the production and crystallization behavior of an iron rich glass prepared by iron and steel making wastes has been investigated. The raw materials used, were the blast furnace slag, the blast furnace dust, converter slag and s...

Collapse Problem Treatment of Gypseous Soil by Nanomaterials

Investigation of the effect of using nanomaterials for improving and Stabilizing the gypseous soil was carried out using laboratory works. The gypseous soils were collected from a site of intake in Bahar Al-Najaf and mixed with two types of nanomaterials (Nano-silica and, Nano-clay) where the nanomaterials were added in small amounts as a percent of the dry weight of the soil sample. Tests to d...
